Serving as interim technology leader, Jose helped a startup move from concept to a working registration and administration platform using AI-assisted development to dramatically accelerate execution. Brought in initially to implement a CRM, Jose's investigation showed that the more consequential challenge was how the organization processed insurance applications and how its technology organization operated. As CIO, he led changes in technology and ways of working, moving toward cloud-based and SaaS-centered capabilities while establishing more disciplined prioritization, decision-making, and execution. The result was a more empowered technology organization focused on higher-value business needs.
Intel Corporation
Turning enterprise-wide risk into coordinated action
Selected to lead Intel's Year 2000 systems effort, Jose first defined the problem and how Intel would assess it. He established the approach for identifying and prioritizing systems, equipped distributed organizations to address their own risks, and created measurable milestones for managing execution against an immovable deadline. The main remediation effort was completed by December 1998, leaving 1999 to prepare for business continuity and the unexpected.
